e-Business Success Process
e-Vision
"My people parish for lack of a VISION"
At e-Focus Solutions we define an e-Vison as:
A clear and concise description of the end results.
Why do most e-business initiatives fail? In many cases it is due to the lack of a clear vision. Often the business / organization chief executives do not have a clear and concise description of what they would like to accomplish.
The tendency is to think only about the company web site as a online brochure and not as a new and powerful business process. Here are a couple examples of written e-Visions.
Example #1 - Computer1Products
Computer1Products is a growing computer system and supply company. Their company operations manager built the company web site a few years ago. Last year they installed a company CRM system. Now they have a need to upgrade thier web site.
Here is their e-Vision.
Imagine giving all Computer1Products inside sales representatives the power and efficiency of collecting and accessing customer contact and order information directly from the web browser even if they are working from home.
Imagine setting up a Network of Computer1Products outside independent sales resentatives, such as computer consultants, independent computer hardware dealers and technicians giving them the ability to earn additional income referring Computer1Products to their key client contacts. They could offer their clients the ability to reorder parts, components and supplies online. They could manage their customers and customer orders directly through their browsers. As representatives they could order the computers and products needed for their projects from Computer1Products at a discount.
Imagine giving Purchasing Managers and IT Managers the Computer1Products Online Self Service Center where they can save time and money by taking advantage of Computer1Products specials, view catalogs, place orders, request bids, manage orders, see order history, change related company information and much more.
Example #2 - Blacks In Technology
The Blacks In Technology / Community Summit events attract tens of thousands of attendees and participants. It significantly raises the awareness and use of technology for individuals and businesses within black and minority communities.
Those attending the event register and provide key demographic information that includes e-mail addresses. We propose to “synthesize” this information, i.e. convert it into the following benefits:
- Heightened awareness of the need to become “e-literate”.
- Increased computer and internet skills within the communities served.
- Increased awareness of computer and internet related career opportunities.
- Increased numbers participants for future events.
- Increased level of follow-up capabilities for event sponsors and exhibitors.
- Generation of revenue from the sale of various computer and internet related products and services that fund expansion of the event to other cities.
Your e-Business Vision should clearly and concisely describe what you want to do and/or accomplish with your e-business. It should be in writing.
